There are events that you can prepare for, but they are still a nuisance when they happen.  So it goes for my two-and-a-half year old HP Laptop computer.  The (not so) old lady suffered from a broken left hinge, which I have come to find out is a rather common failure on HP dv9000 computers.  And, of course, they would have been more than happy to fix it, as long as I had brought the problem to their attention before last May.  Doh!

Anyway, to make matters worse, a few days later, the motherboard went out on the thing, rendering it useless.  Yeah, I have a lot of it backed up.  But it is still a pain in the gluteus maximus to get it all put back together.

In the meantime, I’m wondering how I will find pictures to post here on Cascadia Daily Photo.  That is when assistant webmaster Emily comes to the rescue with an answer!  I ask “Where am I ever going to find pictures of nature in Cascadia now?”  Of course, she comes up with the answer:

IM001484 Oh No! The Computer Died!

Of course, the answer is to run over to the window and look outside!  What a concept!  I think I’ll do the same.

In the meantime, I will allow assistant webmaster Emily Katt choose today’s photo from among her favorites.  She, of course, is quite fond of photos of birds.  So I have included her choice for today, Larus occidentalis, looking right at us:

IM000150 Oh No! The Computer Died!

Photo1:  Emily is older now, this pic taken 4 August 2004 when she was 4 months old.  Photo2: Larus occidentalis was seen here on 18 August 2001 eating fish & chips on Pier 54 in Seattle.
