The View From Above

For most of us, we can stand in the central part of Portland, look up into the West Hills, and wonder what kind of view that those people in the houses up there have when they look down at us. A recent trip into the residential area answers that question. In a rare space between the homes, we can see what they see. Some of it is not necessarily pretty. Crossing the Willamette River is the St Johns Railroad Bridge, with Portland’s Northwest Industrial District in the foreground. Sometimes, it might be better to be looking up into Forest Park after all. Photo: Taken in Portland’s West Hills from NW Luray Terrace on 22 February 2010.
