pigeonguillemot Pigeon Guillemot

The Pigeon Guillemot (Cepphus columba) is a bird native to the West Coast of North America, from Siberia & Alaska down to Mexico. Around this time of year, it is not uncommon to see them in Puget Sound, as this one was found near the Port of Edmonds Marina. They love to catch and eat fish and crabs, much to the delight of the fishers and crabbers on a nearby pier. Photo: Taken from the Edmonds fishing pier on 8 July 2011.
