063 1024x768 MAX Train on the Steel Bridge

In honor of today’s dubious event of most of Tri-Met’s MAX trains going dead all day, I will feature a MAX train in today’s photo. A surge protector did too good a job of protecting things today on the 101-year-old Steel Bridge and affected most of the service today. Shown here is a MAX train crossing the Steel Bridge across the Willamette River, with the Broadway Bridge seen in the background. I really like the Steel Bridge. It is one of my favorites, and I would not want to see anything happen to it. But it is 101 years old. Photo: Taken from the East Bank Esplanade in Portland on 2 December 2009.
