I have been pondering this photo for years since I took it. If there were one less stick of wood in the photo, it would be a picture of some water. Some will not see the point of this photo — it is a stick of wood in the water. Or, it is a stab at a minimalist statement: A lone old piling, still sticking up out of the water after all this time. I’ll let you tell me what it is about to you. Photo: Taken in the Willamette Rive in Portland on 9 December 2009. And it is still there.
