The clouds over the town of Seaside are looking ominous, as the wintertime sun shows itself on the beach a bit farther south.  The beach gets somewhat rocky South of Seaside until you get to Tillamook Head and Ecola State Park.  Photo: Along Beach Drive in Seaside on 24 February 2006.

At the point where the Columbia River flows into the Pacific Ocean near Astoria, the US Corps of Engineers built a jetty to preserve the area around the river outlet.  The jetty extends into the ocean, and can be easily seen from the observation platform at Ft Stevens State Park.  Photo:  Taken from the top [...]
