The Birger Solberg Invitational track meet wrapped up spring break Saturday with more than 30 schools competing throughout the day at Civic Stadium.
Seattle Prep won the girls team competition and North Creek won the boys, while the Bellingham boys and Sehome girls were the only local schools to place in the top 10 spots as a team.
The Bayhawk boys finished sixth and the Sehome girls placed 10th. The Bellingham girls finished just behind Sehome in 11th place.
Whatcom County schools placed first in seven events in the meet.
Blaine senior Eleeshiyah Faulkner won both the girls 100- and 300-meter hurdles with times of 17.21 seconds and 48.36.
Bellingham’s Will Giesen won the boys 3,200-meter run in a time of 9:35.75, a new personal record for him. Senior Javen Livas won the boys shot put for the Bayhawks with a throw of 52-04.75. Rounding out the first-place finishes for Bellingham was junior Henry Sheldrup, who won the boys discus with a throw of 144-01.
Sehome senior Dawson Rothenbuhler won the girls shot put with a toss of 42-01.25. Rothenbuhler also placed second in the discus with a throw of 100-09.
Ferndale senior Andrew Nelson claimed the top spot in the boys javelin with a throw of 175-04.50.
Other local top-10 finishes on the girls side were Lynden Christian’s Tabby DeJong in the girls shot put who finished second (32-11.50) and Squalicum senior Laura Halsell in the 2K steeplechase who placed fourth (7:42.55). Bellingham’s Genevieve Blum finished eighth in the 300-meter hurdles (51.29) and Sehome’s Bella Connell placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (17.35).
Blaine freshman Josiah Weeda set a new personal record and placed sixth in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.29 and Sehome senior John Dawson finished second in the boys shot put with a throw of 46-00.25.

Teams will return from spring break next week with about a month left before the start of the postseason.
