By Noah Harper News Intern

East Whatcom Regional Resource Center will offer all East Whatcom community members free health, vision and dental services during the Catherine Mahaffey East Whatcom Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 21.

The fair will provide basic medical screenings, dental procedures, vision checks and other services that will require an RSVP. Interested individuals can RSVP at oppco.org or call 360-599-3944.

Local providers like PeaceHealth and Sea Mar Community Health Centers will be present.

The fair will also have food, entertainment and activities specific to children, elders and participants of all stages of health, according to a press release. There will be a youth bike safety course, free education and giveaways.

Volunteers are still needed to help cover the entire event, including parking, translation and intake. Volunteers can sign up online at https://bit.ly/volunteerCMEWWF.

The fair is accepting financial donations at oppco.org, as well as items like children’s bikes and helmets, and event tents. Bikes can be donated to Opportunity Council’s East Whatcom Regional Resource Center for use in a safety course run by Whatcom Smart Tips.

The Catherine Mahaffey East Whatcom Wellness Fair is in honor of the late Catherine Mahaffey, a community member invested in the health of her neighbors.
