No arrests have been made after five people were injured during an altercation in which gunshots were fired at the Mount Vernon Walmart Sunday night, according to a Mount Vernon Police press release. The release was unclear on the nature or cause of the injuries.
A group of men entered Walmart and were involved in an altercation with another group of men who were already in the store, the release stated. Gunshots were reported inside the store around 10:50 p.m.
During the altercation, five victims were injured, including a 72-year-old male customer, a 24-year-old male Walmart employee and three 19-year-old men who were involved in the initial altercation, the release stated.
All five victims were being treated at Skagit Valley Hospital and their conditions are unknown as of early Monday morning. Three were transported by medical units, two arrived by private vehicles.
Police said there is no indication the individuals entered the store intending an active threat event.
