An approaching cold front will bring cooler temperatures and a slight chance of snow to Whatcom County starting Monday, according to a Friday report from the National Weather Service.
It’s part of a widespread front expected to hit Western Washington that could bring snowfall levels to the lowlands Monday night into Tuesday.
NWS Seattle predicts Bellingham has a 4% chance of accumulating an inch or more of snowfall, and meteorologist Trent Davis expects the area to get around half an inch.
“Little too far out to get full total,” Davis said on Friday. “That’s what the range totals are showing with a bunch of different models through Tuesday.”
Bellingham is expected to have highs in the mid-to-upper 40s during daytime hours on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with temperatures dropping near freezing Monday night and a chance of snow overnight.
It will get even colder overnight Tuesday and Wednesday, dropping to the upper 20s and bringing another chance of snow.
“Really the overnight periods will be cold enough for snow,” Davis said. “It’s a really cold air mass coming. Could be some snow during the daytime, especially Tuesday.”
Temperatures will rise back to the upper 40s Thursday, Feb. 16, and Friday, Feb. 17, as the cold front moves on.
