Sehome soccer falls in state semifinals, will play for third/fourth

Mariners unable to come back from 2-goal deficit in 2-1 loss

Sehome boys soccer was unable to come back from a 2-0 first-half deficit in a 2-1 loss to top-seeded Columbia River in the 2A state semifinals Friday, May 26, at Renton Memorial Stadium.

The Rapids struck early, taking a 1-0 lead on an Alex Harris goal in the 19th minute. They took a 2-0 lead in the 35th minute when Rapids’ JP Guzman was taken in the box, setting up Harris to convert a penalty kick.

Sehome punched back in the 46th minute, scoring to trail 2-1, but couldn’t find the back of the net again to tie it up and push the match into overtime.

No. 4 Sehome will now face No. 6 Pullman for third/fourth at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Renton Memorial Stadium.
