LC snaps Sedro-Woolley’s 10-game win streak, moves on to regular season finale

Engels sends two-run homer to cap off 8-2 win over Cubs

Lynden Christian junior Austin Engels crushed a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cap off an 8-2 win over Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, April 25 at Bellingham High School.

Engels finished the game 1 for 1 at the plate with two runs scored and a game-high three RBI to help LC (11-7, 8-6 Northwest Conference) snap a two-game skid. Sedro-Woolley (13-6, 10-4 NWC) had its 10-game win streak and with the loss.

Senior Jonah Terpstra pitched a complete game for LC, allowing three hits, one earned run and no walks while striking out two batters. Terpstra went 1 for 4 offensively with a run scored.

Sedro-Woolley got its only spark from sophomore Lane Guffie, who finished 1-for-2 batting and a two-run home run. The Cubs’ bullpen walked 13 LC batters.

LC will finish out its regular season on the road at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 26 versus Burlington-Edison (9-8, 7-6 NWC). Sedro-Woolley’s final game of the season will be a road contest against Nooksack Valley (8-10, 6-8 NWC) at 7:15 p.m. on the same night.
