Man arrested in connection to Mount Vernon shooting that injured two

Both victims, in their 50s, suffered non-life-threatening injuries

A 49-year-old male suspect was arrested in connection to a shooting that injured two people inside a Mount Vernon home Sunday morning, Dec 24.

The two victims, a 50-year-old male and a 53-year-old male, were transported to the Skagit Valley Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a Mount Vernon Police news release.

Officers arrived at a residence on the 1600 block of South 3rd Street around 9 a.m. Sunday morning after a report of gunshots, where officers found the two victims. The suspect was located outside the residence, and a firearm was found on the scene.

Another person inside the house said the suspect, who was known to both victims and himself, had pointed the gun at him as well, according to police.

The suspect was booked into Skagit County Jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of first-degree assault.
