Sehome girls basketball avoided elimination while Squalicum saw its season end following loser-out 2A District 1 consolation quarterfinal games on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Mount Vernon High School.

No. 4 Sehome (13-7) kept its season alive with a 45-38 win over No. 6 Anacortes (11-12). The Mariners bounced back from a crushing loss to top-seeded Lynden on Saturday, Feb. 10 in the district semifinals.

Squalicum (15-9), which won 12 of its last 15 regular season games entering the tournament to earn the No. 5 seed, fell to No. 2 Burlington-Edison (18-5), 61-31, ending its season. The Storm will lose just three seniors ahead of next season.

Sehome will now face Burlington-Edison in the consolation semifinals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15 for a chance to play for the final state bid from 2A District 1. That game will be against the loser of top-seeded Lynden (22-1) or No. 2 Archbishop Murphy (18-4), which are playing in the district title match.
