Two suspects wanted in connection with a murder investigation in Hamilton County, Tennessee, were arrested during a multi-agency operation Friday, July 26 near Blaine.

Michael Brooks, 27, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, and Kayla Brooks, 26, was arrested on suspicion of accessory after the fact. Both were booked into Whatcom County Jail and are awaiting extradition.

A Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office investigation led officers to believe the pair were hiding out in Whatcom County. A follow-up investigation narrowed the search to a residence near Delta Line Road and West 95th Terrace, east of Blaine.

Sheriff’s office detectives and drone pilots identified the pair, which led to a search warrant.

“This is a prime example of highly effective coordination among local, federal and out-of-state law enforcement agencies to apprehend two fugitives who were on the run from Tennessee,” Whatcom County Sheriff Donnell “Tank” Tanksley said in a news release.
