JESSE’S PICKS
Elizabeth Park Concert Series
6–8 p.m. Thursday, July 4, Elizabeth Park, 2005 Elizabeth St.
The Fourth of July is a mixed bag for live music. There’s a couple of big events, but they can get awfully crowded and hectic. Since it falls on a Thursday this year, Elizabeth Park might be a nice option with grass and shade. They’ve got Mary Ellen Lykins and the CC Adams Band doing blues and rock.
Proud Failures, Kids on Fire, Shame Banger
9 p.m. Friday, July 5, Nacho Problems, 1425 Railroad Ave.
It’s always great seeing a new spot hosting shows, especially somewhere that can have original, louder music. Nacho Problems is on Railroad across from the bus station, and they’re hosting a punk show on Friday, July 5 with Proud Failures, Kids on Fire and Shame Banger. Come on out, and make sure to be nice to the staff so they want to do it again!
Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band
8:30 p.m. Friday, July 5, Wild Buffalo, 208 W. Holly St.
Clinton Fearon is pretty much the elder statesman of the Seattle reggae scene. You’ve got two good chances to see him this weekend: at the Wild Buffalo on July 5, or out at the Guemes Island General Store the next night.
Skagit Summer Party ft. Eden and Sweetwood
4 p.m. Saturday, July 6, Farmstrong Brewing, 110 Stewart Road
Farmstrong Brewing typically hosts outdoor shows on Thursdays, but every once in a while they’ll do a big one on the weekends. Eden is a powerful original rock band fronted by Savannah Woods, and they’ll be performing there Saturday, July 6, with openers Sweetwood.
