Downtown Bellingham Partnership looking for new leadership

Nonprofit is searching for an executive director to enhance the vitality of downtown

By Jemma Alexander News Intern

The Downtown Bellingham Partnership is looking for someone passionate about shaping the future of the city to serve as the new executive director.

After seven years, Alice Clark, also a founding member of the Pickford Film Center, left the position on Dec. 31, 2023.

By casting a wide net and dedicating themselves to transparency, the nonprofit hopes to find a “dynamic leader with a passion for urban development and community building,” their website states.

Expectations for the positions include leadership skills, encouraging the collaboration of stakeholders, overseeing the day-to-day operations, and working alongside the board of directors, staff, volunteers and community partners.

A more expansive list of job duties can be found here.

“Everything we do is rooted in the idea that our community is a place unlike anywhere else,” their website states.

Downtown Bellingham Partnership is a designated Washington Main Street Community. The Main Street Four-Point Approach is a preservation-based economic development tool used to revitalize business districts using the history, culture and enterprises that already exist within the community.

Currently, Lindsey Payne Johnstone, with the partnership since 2008, is the interim executive director.

To apply for the position, email a cover letter and resume to wendy@stclairehr.com by March 31, 2024, with the subject line “DBP Executive Director.”
