Fresh off its second straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament championship, Western Washington University women’s basketball is set as the No. 3 seed in its fourth consecutive NCAA Division II West Regional tournament appearance.
Western (23-6), which received an automatic bid to the tournament following its 54-52 GNAC title game victory over Montana State Billings, will face No. 6 Cal Poly Pomona (20-9) in the quarterfinals at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at the Felix Event Center in Azusa, California. Top-seeded Azusa Pacific (28-3) is hosting the tournament.
A quarterfinal win would send the Vikings to a 5 p.m. semifinal the next day against either No. 2 Cal State San Marcos (23-6) or No. 7 Point Loma (18-12). Montana State Billings (26-6) is the only other GNAC school that received an at-large bid, and the Yellowjackets are the No. 4 seed.
West Regional games will be available to watch at NCAA.com via the Championships Pass ($29.95) — a paid webcast that is new this season. Alternatively, fans can purchase single-game streams for $9.95.
