The Everett Police Department took a man into custody on Tuesday, Nov. 12, after he left Peacehealth St. Joseph Medical Center on Sunday night.

Bellingham Police had requested the public’s help Jason John on Monday.

John, is facing several charges, including an attempt to elude pursuing police vehicles, a violation of a domestic violence order and taking a motor vehicle without permission, according to a police department social media post.

Previously, John left the hospital wearing a blue hospital gown and white socks at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.

Megan Peters of Bellingham Police Department said in an email that officers received a call just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10 that John had violated a no contact order and the “victim was in a vehicle with him.” At around 3 p.m., officers attempted to stop the vehicle, a 2017 Toyota Camry, at near James Street and Woodstock Way but were unsuccessful.

John continued to elude officers, driving toward Telegraph Road, Peters said, until he hopped a curb on Telegraph and struck a stationary police patrol vehicle. The two officers in the vehicle were uninjured, but John was unconscious. Officers transported him to the hospital for treatment.

Peters said as John wasn’t under arrest while at the hospital, officers filled out paperwork “notifying” staff that John would be taken into custody when he was released.

“Mr. John walked out of the hospital without hospital staff knowing,” she said in an email. “They notified us when they realize[d] he was gone.”
