Last year, Meridian’s Brooklyn Fuller helped the girls soccer team reach its first state tournament appearance since 2016.
“We lost a lot of good players but left a good mark on what good players are,” said Fuller, who is an incoming senior. “We will work hard and be a special team because we are young and have some talent.”
Fuller’s aunt persuaded her to play soccer when she was in preschool. Fuller took a mental break from fifth to seventh grade, but returned to club soccer in eighth grade.
“I love the sport a lot,” Fuller said. “My dream was to go pro when I was little, but soccer has made me determined, learned how to work with people and stay positive in tough situations.”
When Fuller is not assisting her teammates on the field, she said she is helping them by providing a positive environment and encouraging them to become the best version of themselves.
Although Meridian lost a handful of seniors, Fuller’s goal is to return to the state tournament and repeat as district champions again.
“We need to show up, practice hard and make sure everyone is working hard,” Fuller said.
Fuller said she is excited about her school events and will be taking photos for the yearbook when not competing in soccer or basketball.
