JESSE’S PICKS

Oceanography
8–10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, Conway Muse, 18444 Spruce St., Conway

Oceanography is an excellent indie rock group led by Bay Area singer-songwriter Brian Kelly. They’ll be at the Conway Muse on Thursday, Sept. 19 in the middle of a long West Coast tour. Expect evocative, lyrical songs, for fans of folks like Damien Jurado or The War on Drugs.

Good Lovelies
7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, Lincoln Theatre, 712 S. 1st St., Mount Vernon

Good Lovelies are a trio of singers from Ontario who do some of the most beautiful harmonies you’re ever likely to hear, over a backing of gentle folk-rock. When I say they’ll give you goosebumps, I’m not being metaphorical at all. They’ll be performing at the Lincoln Theatre on Friday, Sept. 20.

Bellingham Celtic Festival
Sept. 19–22, downtown Bellingham

From Thursday to Sunday at venues all over downtown, the Bellingham Celtic Festival returns with a mixture of free and ticketed shows, workshops, sessions, pub sings and all kinds of other merriment. Check their website for the full schedule.

Playboy Manbaby
9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, The Shakedown, 1212 N. State St.

I read a lot of genre descriptions in this job, and they don’t often tell me much. Playboy Manbaby on the other hand, describes their sound as “multi-media art punk for kindness,” and that was pretty much all I needed to hear to know that I was going to be into it. They’re coming to the Shakedown on Saturday, Sept. 21, with Austin’s Steaksauce Mustache and locals The Hobby.
