A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting near Skagit Valley College that left one person injured on Monday, Sept. 30.
The shooting, which happened around 12:42 p.m. in the 3000 block of East College Way, according to a news release by Mount Vernon Police, sent the college into lockdown. Classes resumed at 1:37 p.m. after law enforcement informed them the threat had left the area.
The 41-year-old male victim was transported to Skagit Valley Hospital. His injuries were not released.
The Anacortes Police Department located the suspect, from Oak Harbor, around 11:17 p.m. Monday, according to a video posted by the Mount Vernon Police Department. However, the suspect allegedly eluded officers and was arrested near Bellingham on I-5 by Washington State Patrol Trooper.
The suspect was booked into the Skagit County Jail around 2 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1. He faces charges related to drive-by shooting, first-degree assault and attempting to elude a police vehicle.
