Most school districts in Whatcom County are closed again Tuesday due to snow and ice.

Ferndale, Blaine, Lynden, Meridian, Nooksack Valley and Mount Baker will remain closed today. Bellingham Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay, using snow bus routes for morning and afternoon. Lummi Nation School and Early Learning will be closed.

In Skagit County, Burlington-Edison, Sedro-Woolley, Concrete, Conway and La Conner all have delayed starts. Anacortes School District will operate on time, but with “adverse weather routes.”

Several high school sports games scheduled for tonight have been canceled, including Lynden boys and girls basketball at Anacortes, Lynden Christian boys and girls basketball at Lakewood, Meridian boys and girls basketball at Sedro-Woolley, Ferndale boys basketball at Mount Baker and Mount Bakers girls basketball game.

Western Washington University will begin at 10 a.m. again, with all classes that start before 10 a.m. canceled. Only employees deemed essential should report to work before that time.

Whatcom Community College and Bellingham Technical College also delayed opening until 10 a.m. Online classes at Whatcom will run as scheduled.

Northwest Indian College is closed today.

Skagit Valley College will open at 9:30 am. due to hazardous road conditions.

The area remains under a cold weather advisory with wind chills as low as 5 to 15 degrees expected until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Slick and icy roads are expected.

Whatcom Transportation Authority buses are running, but may be delayed due to road conditions. There is no zone or flex service today, according to a Facebook post. Two buses have detours: Route 50 is detouring on Ferndale Road and missing Mackenzie Road, and Route 72X is missing several stops along Deming Road and Santa Fe Trail.

Whatcom County’s severe weather shelter is open at 925 N. Forest St. in Bellingham through Thursday, Feb. 6.
