Schools closed, delayed Thursday due to ongoing cold, snow

All Skagit County public schools closed due to unsafe road conditions

Blaine School District and Ferndale School District will each close for a fourth day in a row on Thursday, Feb. 6 due to the ongoing snow, ice and cold.

All athletics and campus activities are canceled in those districts.

All Skagit County public schools are closed Thursday, Feb. 6, districts announced early this morning due to unsafe road conditions.

In Whatcom, Meridian School District, Lynden School District, Mount Baker School District and Lummi Nation School and Early Learning will operate on a two-hour delay.

Nooksack Valley and Bellingham Public Schools are operating on a normal schedule. In Bellingham, elementary students will be dismissed early at 12:20 p.m., as previously planned.

Western Washington University and Northwest Indian College will open at 10 a.m. Skagit Valley College will open at 9:30 a.m.

Whatcom Community College and Bellingham Technical College will operate on a normal schedule Thursday.

More prep games are canceled today. Boys and girls basketball games between Ferndale and Lynden Christian are canceled.

A cold weather advisory has been extended until 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, with a winter weather advisory extended until 10 a.m. Thursday.


Looking forward to the weekend, there is a chance of snow Friday night, Saturday and Sunday in Bellingham, according to the National Weather Service.
