Meridian record: 14-6

Nooksack Valley record: 13-7

Final prediction: Meridian 50-45

Meridian defeated Nooksack Valley 58-42 on Jan. 13 in their regular season matchup. Despite winning the regular season game, Nooksack Valley will host the first round of the 1A district playoff game after finishing half of a game ahead of the Trojans. The Pioneers averaged nearly 49 points this season and allowed 46 points.

Meridian is a smaller, yet fierce, team compared to Nooksack Valley. The Trojans finished the regular season averaging about 45 points per game and allowed nearly 43. The two teams will be fighting for a spot in the 1A title game and to earn a spot in the district crossover game for a state berth next week.

Meridian player to watch: Senior guard Brooklyn Fuller

Fuller is described by her team as an energizer bunny, fueling the team’s high-octane offense and defense this season. Fuller is averaging nearly four assists per game, a couple of steals and is the second-highest free throw percentage shooter in Whatcom County (77.6%).

Nooksack Valley player to watch: Junior forward Grace De Hoog

De Hoog is one of the premier post players in the conference this season. She ranks top five in rebounds per game (13.7), blocks (1.1) and points (14.7). In their first matchup, De Hoog was the leading scorer with 16 points, and tallied 11 rebounds.
