La Conner School District’s replacement programs and operations levy is poised to pass, based on updated results released Wednesday. Feb. 12.

Voters have so far overwhelmingly supported the levy, with 78.56% in favor. More than 1,260 votes have been counted as of Wednesday, with only a few ballots left to count.

Superintendent David Cram said Wednesday morning that he’s grateful to see the strong results so far.

“It’s nice to see the community fully supporting us and helping us move forward,” he said.

The school district asked voters to approve a tax rate of $1.11 per $1,000 in assessed value to pay for additional staffing, safety, athletics, arts, technology and special education, among other priorities. The new tax will replace an existing levy that expires at the end of 2025.

In particular, Cram highlighted the extracurricular programs the levy will be able to support, including sports and drama. The levy also goes to “backfilling” areas where the school district is underfunded by state dollars, including paying for materials and supplies, he added.

The levy will allow the district to collect around $4.75 million in local tax revenue from 2026–29, to supplement existing state and federal funding. Levy funding makes up 8% of the school district’s budget, according to the district’s website.

The election results will be certified on Friday, Feb. 21.
