Elon Musk’s dismantling of the agencies that keep the wheels of our democracy running will take a generation to recover from.
You may not have noticed what is happening as Trump keeps jingling bright shiny objects your way. Panama, Greenland, Canada the 51st state and now we won’t buy Gaza; the U.S. will take it, control it and make it the Riviera of the Mideast. Don’t bank on that one.
The agriculture folks in the red states are complaining about not being paid for their produce since USAID has been essentially put out of business.
Canada has aimed their anti-U.S. tariffs at red states mainly to compensate for America’s threatened 25% tariffs.
The number of court orders intended to slow down or stop Trump from usurping the powers of Congress is growing and enforcement is looking more likely sooner than later.
If Congress does not stop Trump from taking over their constitutionally mandated powers and Trump can halt any court degrees with his Justice Department lackeys, he will have secured the title of dictator or as Trump would prefer… king. We are watching the dismantling of our democracy.
With Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense, there is little chance of the court’s ability to use the U.S. military to enforce its rulings. So, it appears there is only one avenue left. We, the citizens of the USA.
Demonstrations around the country are growing. It is important that we, the people, direct our attention to the constitutional crisis that is taking shape day by day. Call your local, state and national representatives. Let them know that you oppose the actions of Trump and Musk.
Moscow and Beijing must be laughing as they watch the bastion of democracy being dismantled from within without a shot being fired from them.
Ukraine goes to Russia, Taiwan goes to China, NATO is on its own. Will Europe (NATO) come to our aid?

As Musk said recently … ”YOU voted for this and this is what you get.” I paraphrase.
No one I know voted for a dictatorship run by oligarchs. Musk and Trump will cripple Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security to make room for the biggest tax cuts for the top 1%. We, the serfs, will suffer on with ever-higher prices, more inflation, low wages and benefits, and think back to the “good old days” of normalcy where the wheels of a government were looking after the citizens of Democracy and not the top 1%.
As Pogo once said long ago: We have met the enemy and he is US.
You can create an individual act of courage by making a call to your representatives.
I suppose if Trump is successful in getting a third term, elections will be a thing of the past. Not sure we voted for that!
