Although Whatcom and Skagit counties did not have a state champion this year, the two combined for 27 athletes reaching the podium, including six wrestlers advancing to their respective championship matches.
Anacortes
The Seahawks boys team placed sixth with 120 points while the girls were 12th with 88 points.
Hailey Rains entered the tournament as the four-seed and pinned three straight opponents to reach the 235-pound championship match. However, she was pinned and lost in the finals.
Amelia Myers went 2-2 at 125 pounds and earned sixth place while Alita Ciron-Penton went 3-3 and placed sixth at 165.

Cora Myers went 1-2 at 135 pounds and Ella Degraaf was 2-2 at 145, while the rest of the girls were winless. Jordyn Simpson competed at 115, Hannah Lenander at 120, Alycia Sandre at 130, Madi Shafer at 135, Paige Kirby and Jai-lee James at 140 and Shiloh Gentry and 170.
On the boys side, Rylin Lang placed third at 165 pounds after going 5-1, Dominic Ellertson went 3-2 and placed fourth at 126, Talin Kerr was 4-2 and placed fourth at 132, and Kade West went 5-1 and placed third at 285 pounds.
Nash Kirby was 2-2 at 106, Jordan Jopson was 2-2 at 126, Lucien Franacioch was 3-2 at 144, Makhi Kilgore was 2-2 at 175, Logan Baumgaertner was 2-2 at 190 and Robbie Ray was 0-2 at 215.
Bellingham
The Bellingham boys finished 36th with 25.5 points.
Every Bellingham wrestler left the Mat Classic with at least one victory under their belt. However, the Bayhawks were unable to break through the blood rounds and fell short of the podium.
Bryant Razzo (106), Jacob McCart7 (113), Conor Rodriguez Stiff (150) and Julian Montoya (215) each finished 2-2. Nathan Laas went 1-2 at 157 pounds.
Blaine
The Borderites girls team placed 15th with 66 points and the boys team placed 18th with 67 points.
For the girls, Makenna Lausier reached the finals at 105 pounds but was pinned and placed second, finishing with a 2-1 record. Analice Ordonez also reached the podium, placing third at 155 pounds after going 4-1. Abigail Marquez finished 2-2 at 130.

For the boys, heavyweight Otto Shelton went 3-1 and placed third, Vinnie Saia went 3-3 and placed sixth at 120 pounds, and Daniel Johner went 2-2 and placed sixth at 132.
Aidyn Hancock went 2-2 at 126 and Christopher Zamudio went 1-2 at 106. Denali Deming, Matt Campion, Rhys Milligan and Ziyang Yu were winless at 132, 138, 175 and 215, respectively.
Burlington-Edison
The Tigers boys team finished 13th with 58 points and the girls were 54th with 3 points.
For the boys, Chase Weber led the Tigers by going 4-1 and placing second at 144 pounds. Damian Fernandez placed sixth after finishing 5-3 at 113 pounds. Eden Maldonado and Damion Lehman went 1-2 at 106 and 120, respectively, while Dario Sepulveda was 2-2 at 285.
On the girls side, Krianna Dela Cruz went 0-2 at 100, Analia Fernandez was 1-2 at 105 and Mia Torres was 0-2 at 145.
Lynden
The Lions girls team placed 54th with 3 points and the boys placed 59th with 3 points.
Eliseo Ortiz Lopez was the only boy representing the Lions, going 2-2 at 120.
On the girls side, Yaretzi Nava Gonalzez went 1-2 and Lily Miller went 0-2, both atg 120 pounds, Allyson Bartlett went 0-2 at 155 and Isabelle Dominguez went 1-2 at 190.
Meridian
The Trojans girls team placed 12th with 80.5 points and the boys placed 26th with 42.5 points.
For the boys, Carson Siadal placed sixth after going 3-3 at 144, and Rhett Duersch was 3-2 and placed fifth at 215.
Trey-Lewis Kelley was 2-2 at 106, while Jonathan Henry was 1-2 and Robert Nalbach 0-2, each at 113. Ethan Valich was 0-2 at 144 and Vincent Truong 0-2 was at 157.

On the girls side, Hailey Horsman led the Trojans with a 3-3 record and a sixth-place finish at 115 pounds. Gretchen Zandstra went 3-2 at 170 pounds, while Aaliyah Fuentes (135) and Kennedy Farrar (170) both went 2-2.
Kamber Schroeder was 1-2 at 110, Sukhpree Kaur was 1-2 at 120, Grace Schroeder was 1-2 at 125, Andrea Cruz was 1-2 at 140, and Jessica Mendez Ortiz and Sarena Mander were both 1-2 at 145 pounds.
Priya Sangha and Piper Dyck were winless at 120 and 190 pounds, respectively.
Mount Baker
The Mountaineers finished ninth in the girls division with 84 points and 17th in the boys tourney with 74.5 points.
For the boys, Andrew Monteith went 2-2 and placed fourth at 126, Gavin Compton went 4-2 and placed fifth at 138, and Wyatt Freeman was 4-1 and finished third at 165.
Henry Tobin was 0-2 at 150, Gunner McGrath 0-2 at 175, Dylan Moa was 3-2 at 190 and Jeremiah Sheridan was 1-2 at 285.

For the girls, Ana Camacho went 3-2 and was fourth place at 110, Tyla Olson finished 2-1 and placed second at 140, Stefany Camacho was 2-3 and placed sixth at 155.
Emily Moa was 2-2 at 100, Kelly Camacho was 0-2 at 105, Karalyn Cook was 1-2 at 115, and Sophia Moa was 2-2 at 130.
Nooksack Valley
The Pioneers boys team placed 29th with 35.5 points and the girls placed 40th with 24.
After medically forfeiting his first match, Wyatt Bacon won five straight duals and placed third at 190 pounds. Abraham Hernandez went 2-2 at 150, Owyn Cunningham went 1-2 at 157 and Andrew Dugger was 1-2 at 165,
In the girls 235 division, Mina Azzan went 4-2 and placed fourth.

Sehome
The Sehome boys placed 37th with 22 points.
Grant Oliver finished 5-2 and placed fifth at 165 and Colin McGiverin went 1-2 at 150. On the girls side, Charly Eggert forfeited both of her matches at 110.
Squalicum
Squalicum’s girls team placed 14th with 74.5 points and the boys team placed 42nd with 18 points
The Storm sent two girls to the finals. Claire Hume lost in the 130-pound final, and Brooke Legoe lost in the 145-pound final. Sophia Moreno went 1-2 at 125, Drew Parrin went 1-2 at 135, Esme Rodriguez went 0-2 at 170, and Karina Bagby went 1-2 at 190.
On the boys side, Brendon Le was 0-2 at 132, Brenden Ferrall-Garcia was 2-2 at 132, Thane Hinds was 1-2 at 138, Darrin Nielsen was 2-2 at 150, and Simeon Blas was 1-2 at 157.
