Anacortes boys swim takes 10 of 12 events to rout Bellingham

Seahawk star Noah McFarland notched three victories

Anacortes boy swim captured 10 out of 12 events in a 126-50 shellacking of host Bellingham at the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center on Tuesday Jan. 21.

In the 200-yard medley relay, Anacortes’ Noah McFarland, Thomas Knowles, Jacob Rittel and Nate Smelley won in 1:58.64; Bellingham’s Cody Watts, Parker Kiniry, Micah Flint and Tony Seholm placed second in 2:14.39; and Anacortes’ Calum Hambleton, Kisen Goforth, Jellybean Hunter and Will Prewitt placed third in 2:18.02.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Seahawks Caleb O’Donnell won in 2:03.22, and Caleb Kidd finished second in 2:12.44. Bellingham’s Ewan Kelley placed third in 2:24.53. In the 200-yard individual medley, Seahawks Finn McFarland won in 2:16.24, Knowles placed second in 2:19.68 and Kiniry came in third in 2:19.92.

Flint won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.03, Rittel finished second in 25.08 and Smelley finished third in 27.14. 

Bellingham’s Myles Ludwig won the 1-meter diving event with 127.8 points, Anacortes’ William T. Peterson placed second with 114.8 and Seahawks’ Josiah Wilmont finished third with 85.85.

O’Donnell won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.37 and Hambleton finished second in 1:20.08. In the 100-yard freestyle, Rittel won in 57.73, Smelley finished second in 1:01.39 and Seholm wound up third in 1:06.98.

Finn McFarland won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:18.39, Noah McFarland placed second in 6:00.66 and Prewitt placed third in 6:33.12.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Peterson, Finn McFarland, Knowles and O’Donnell won in 1:45.65; Flint, Kiniry, Seholm and Nicolas Rayon finished second in 1:54.90; and Matthew Lucas, Goforth, Carter Larson and Kidd finished third in 2:05.81.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Noah McFarland won in 1:05.42, Flint was second in 1:10.91 and Hambleton was third in 1:20.96. Knowles won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.42, Kiniry finished second in 1:13.62 and Kidd came in third in 1:18.62. 


In the 400-yard freestyle relay, O’Donnell, Rittel, Finn McFarland and Noah McFarland won in 3:44.23; Kidd, Prewitt, Hambleton and Smelley placed second in 4:25.47; and Keley, Rayon, Seholm and Watts came in third in 4:44.43. 

Anacortes will face Squalicum at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center. Bellingham will host Oak Harbor at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at Arne Hanna.
