2A/1A/2B/1B District 1 girls wrestling state qualifier
9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1
Squalicum High School
Nearly all the Whatcom and Skagit girl wrestlers will compete all day at Squalicum High School with the chance to qualify for Mat Classic XXXVI at the Tacoma Dome. The top four placers in 2A and the top two in the other classifications will move on to wrestle at state. The one-day meet will involve 31 teams.
WWU men’s basketball vs. Seattle Pacific
7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8
Carver Gymnasium
Despite having an above .500 overall record, Western sits near the bottom of the conference standings. The Vikings are in seventh place with a 3-5 conference record and will look to make a late push into the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament. The Vikings will face Seattle Pacific, which sits two games above WWU in the standings. Western has one of the best home records in the league (7-3) while Seattle Pacific is 1-5 on the road.
Gangball
4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3
Bloedel Donovan Community Building
Gangball, which is similar to wheelchair rugby, is open to all ages and abilities. The adaptive sport splits players between two teams and is played on a basketball court, with around 10–20 individuals. It is free to play and wheelchairs are provided at the facility.
