1A/2A state basketball championships

Yakima Valley SunDome
Five Whatcom County basketball teams are headed to the Yakima Valley SunDome to compete for either a 1A or 2A state basketball title. The Lynden boys and girls and Lynden Christian boys and girls are favorites to make the championship game. With the games across the state, fans can stay cozy at home and watch the students play on NFHS Network.
WWU Softball vs. Western Oregon
12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 14
Viking Field
Western Washington softball hosted its first home games earlier this month and will return after a series against Saint Martin’s. The No. 10 nationally ranked Vikings have one of the top pitching rotations and a top-tier defense. Western will look to remain at the top of the GNAC standings early in the season.

Corner of West Laurel Street and Cornwall Avenue, Bellingham
Enjoy Saint Patrick’s Day weekend by wearing your green and running either a 5K or 8K race around Bellingham. The race will finish at the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue and the awards will be given out at Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro Garden. Kids 12 and under will be $10, and ages 13 and above are $40 if not registered yet.
