An 18-year-old man from Mount Vernon has died in what police are deeming a homicide.

Mount Vernon police were dispatched to a call around 11:40 p.m. Monday, March 17 in the 2200 block of East College Way, said Lt. Dave Shackleton, a spokesperson for the Mount Vernon Police Department. The caller initially said there had been multiple gunshots and that one person had been shot.

When police arrived, they found the 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound and provided aid until medic units arrived, Shackleton said.
