Squalicum boys and Sehome girls came out victorious in the season-opening All-City meet with Bellingham Wednesday, March 19 at Civic Stadium.
The Squalicum boys team swept Bellingham and Sehome, beating them both 75-65. Bellingham boys outlasted Sehome 74-64.
On the girls side, Sehome swept Bellingham and Squalicum. The Mariners beat the Bayhawks, 92-45, and the Storm, 84.5 to 56.5. Squalicum girls beat Bellingham 76-56.

Individual results
100-meter dash: Sehome’s Porter Leak won the boys event in 11.40 seconds. Squalicum’s Ansen Asbjornsen finished second and Marcus Than was third. On the girls side, Squalicum’s Addison Warner won in 12.72, Sehome’s Triya Mitchell was second and Squalicum’s Hannah Warner was third.
1600-meter run: Bayhawks’ Berkley Pass won the boys event in 4:22.04 while Sehome’s Jackson Rogers placed second and Heath Terry finished third. In the girls 1600 event, Sehome’s Sloane Clines won in 5:05.97, Samantha Knapp was second and Lil Desler was third.
300-meter hurdles: Bellingham’s Hunter Deschenes won the boys event in 40.20, Sehome’s Jassiah Champion was second and Harley Kaiser was third. In the girls 300 hurdles, Sehome’s Keira Reeves won in 48.37, Bella Everett was second and Vivian Moss was third.
800-meter run: Squalicum’s Joseph Salomon won in the boys event in 2:05.90, Sehome’s Jake Hatzl was second and Squalicum’s Jonathan Piper placed third. In the girls 800 event, Squalicum’s Daliah Strutz won in 2:34.05, Bellingham’s Aurora Dickerson placed second and Squalicum’s Madison Ellis finished third.
200-meter dash: Leak won the boys event in 23.12 seconds. Deschenes placed second and Squalicum’s Lucas Shannon placed third. In the girls 200-meter, Warner won in 27.67 while Sehome’s Amaia Reid placed second and Bella Connell was third.
3200-meter run: Pass won the boys event in 10:12.83, Storm’s Taylor Rush finished second and Bayhawks’ Tarver May was third. In the girls 3200-meter, Squalicum’s Cecilia Voigt won in 13:55.67 while the rest of the competitors did not finish.
Boys 4×400-meter relay: Squalicum’s Salomon, Ty Hoffman, Kamyar Horton and Piper won in 4:07.00; Bellingham’s Baynes Machinski, Lukas Gabrisch, Noah Brenton and Alden Melanson placed second; and Bellingham’s Pass, Jack Guifarro, Max Gardner and Leland Johnson were third.
Girls 4×400-meter relay: Bellingham’s Nora Alexander, Nora Seltz, Elise Holland and Leah Wagner won in 4:36.78; Squalicum’s Sandra Voigt, Emily Bowles, Ellis and Strutz were second; and Sehome’s Emma Lasterell, Macy Alexander, Lila Unfried and Petra Dorn placed third.
400-meter run: Storm’s Ty Hoffman won the boys event in 52.55, Bellingham’s Rowan Griesbach placed second and Storm’s Edward Hendricks was third. On the girls side, Sehome’s Reid won in 1:00.81, Macy Alexander was second and Madeleine Hill was third.
110-meter hurdles: Deschenes won in 15.36 while Champion was second and Callum Laplant was third.
100-meter hurdles: Mariners’ Bella Connell won in 15.63, Storm’s Jolie Paz was second and Everett was third.
Boys 4×100-meter relay: Squalicum’s Shannon, Than, Joaquin Ortiz-McCalister and Jacob Truemper won in 46.06, while their teammates Rhys Knowlten, Zachary Watt, Ray Hoffman and Oscar Egner placed second.
Girls 4×100-meter relay: Squalicum’s Paz, Hannah Warner, Addison Warner and Addison Goerning won in 50.83; Sehome’s Reeves, Kylie Ivcevic, Hill and Mitchell were second; and Bellingham’s Samantha Green, Sonoma Smith, Morgan Dupre and Addison Bonner were third.
4×200-meter relay: Mariners’ Ayla Woodworth, Hill, Reid and Ivcevic won in 1:49.54 and Storm’s Emily Horst, Alexys Higbee, Bronwyn Jones and Peyton Horst placed second.
Shot put: Bellingham’s Kaiser Barker won the boys event with 40 feet, 1.25 inches. Sehome’s Miles Gifford was second and Bellingham’s Joshua Kroll was third. In the girls shot put, Sehome’s Taylor Tellefson won with 30-1.75, Bellingham’s Leilani Endersby placed second and Paz was third.
Discus: Storm’s Hayden Nelson won the boys discus with 142-08, Barker was second and Bellingham’s Ian Campbell was third. On the girls side, Endersby won with 95-08, Tellefson was second and Bellingham’s Isabelle Rogers was third.
Javelin: Squalicum’s Joseph Buckey won the boys event with 141-6.5, Sehome’s Luke Norman was second and Squalicum’s Christopher stark placed third. Bellingham’s Jayda Knutsen won with 100-09 and Squalicum’s Kate Truemper was second and Tayen Withrow placed third.
High jump: Squalicum’s Nolan Witman won the boys event with a jump of 5-08, Baker Mitchell finished with 5-04 and Egner with 5-02. Sehome’s Hayden Niewiadomski won the girls high jump with 4-08, Knutsen had 4-06 and Sehome Baleigh Read finished with 4-04.
Pole vault: Bellingham’s Cassin Bates and Squalicum’s Finnan Smith tied for first in the boys event with 11-00 while Sehome’s Christian Leon was third with 10-06. Bellingham’s Esperanza Wild won the girls pole vault with 6-07, Camille Baker was second and Sehome’s Julia Wolgamot was third.
Long jump: Sehome’s Maxton Rush won the boys event with 20-05, Bellingham’s Maxwell Swanson placed second and Truemper was third. Sonoma Smith won the girls long jump with 16-05, Sehome’s Adrianna Phillips was second and Paz was third.
Triple jump: Rush won the boys event with 40-00, Bellingham’s Marcus Hinderman was second and Sehome’s Shyloh Banuelos was third. On the girls side, Niewiadomski won with 31-10.5, Unfried was second and Squalicum’s Tisha Trinh was third.
