Boys basketball: Sehome at Lummi
7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5 at Lummi Nation School
The Sehome Mariners are looking to improve after an 11-12 record last season. Despite being a much larger school, Sehome will have a tough non-conference matchup against 1B Lummi Nation. The Blackhawks return several starters from a team that reached the state quarterfinals last season.
WWU women’s basketball vs. Seattle Pacific
7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 at Carver Gymnasium
Western’s women’s basketball team dealt with several injuries in the beginning of the season, leading to several lineup changes and a 2-3 record as of Nov. 24. The Vikings will have a favorable matchup at home against the 1-6 Seattle Pacific with the hopes of turning the season around.
Anacortes Santa Run at Seafarers’ Memorial Park
9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 at Seafarers’ Memorial Park
The Anacortes Santa Run allows runners to dress in a Santa costume (costumes are provided) and run a 5K race at Seafarers’ Memorial Park. The 5K run includes a group start with Christmas carols, sweets, coffee and prizes. Runners can also compete for a prize against Anacortes High cross country runners in “Beat the Elf.”
