EXTRA! CDN special section takes voters inside 2023 elections

Your voter guide to Aug. 1 primary

Cascadia Daily News has already been covering key races in the coming primary election for NW Washington in its online and print pages. Today, we’ve assembled all of that reporting, plus more, in a single print/digital section, Election Extra

The July 14 pullout section is a wrap over the usual Friday edition of CDN, Bellingham’s privately owned, independent news organization, which is available in more than 100 NW Washington locations, and mailed to home subscribers. Inside you’ll find individual stories about key races, maps of city and county electoral districts, registration and ballot-dropoff information, and other voting details.

Included in the Election Extra is an extensive list of “Citizens Agenda” questions submitted to CDN from readers, responding to the prompt: “What do you want candidates to be talking about as they compete for votes?” It’s the driver behind CDN’s “reader-powered” election coverage, shifting the focus from candidate talking points to real issues of concern to local residents.

We’re asking readers to select their top questions, which will be announced July 26. The questions will serve as the basis of reporting for CDN’s ongoing election coverage through the summer, culminating with in-depth, live coverage of the Nov. 8 general election. They also will be submitted for direct written responses from candidates, whose answers will be published in CDN’s Oct. 16 Voter Guide to the general election.

Please take a moment to participate in this important process. Reader “votes” for top questions can be submitted via a Google form, or on paper by mailing us a ballot section contained in the Election Extra.

Thanks in advance for following CDN’s election coverage, which throughout the campaign season will be available free, outside our paywall, as a public service. Support more critical local journalism by subscribing here
