For the 100th year, Lighthouse Mission Ministries served a full Thanksgiving meal Thursday, Nov. 23 to the homeless and hungry of Whatcom County.
From the gym of the Church of the Assumption, hundreds gathered around tables, chatted with one another, and feasted on plates of turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and other Thanksgiving staples.
“Especially over the major holidays, nobody likes to be alone,” Mission President and CEO Hans Erchinger-Davis said. “The dinner gives our guests a place to connect and feel human.”
The meal was funded by donations to the Mission, and dozens of volunteers prepared and served the food all afternoon.
