Hovander Park partially reopens after flood

The park had significant damage after the November 2021 flood

Hovander Park’s boat launch parking lot, Nooksack River Trail and off-leash dog parks have reopened after the November 2021 flood caused significant damage to the park.

The Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department made the announcement Wednesday, April 20.

“Trail subgrade and top surfacing has been repaired and the boat launch parking lot has been graded making these areas serviceable,” a press release stated. “While the restroom building remains closed for repair with the rest of the park areas not listed here, a portable restroom and handwash station has been placed at the boat launch parking lot for public sanitation.”

The park is expected to completely reopen next month.
