Thousands of participants will go for gold this weekend in Bellingham’s annual Ski to Sea, with winning teams expected to cross the finish line in just five hours.
So far this year, 355 teams have registered to race, down from the 413 teams registered in 2019.
More than 2,500 participants will ski, run, bike, canoe and kayak the course this year.
More than 1% of those participants are named Matt.
More men named Matt will be competing Sunday than people competing in the masters category, with 32 participants registered.
The veteran category includes 88 participants. The combined age of all racers on a veteran category team must be more than 385 years.
