By Nick Zeller-Singh Sports Reporter

Junior Diva Marsh, competing for the combined Bellingham team, placed second to lead all local bowlers, and two others finished top 10 in three different state tournaments happening from Feb. 6–8 at Bowlero South Seattle in Tukwila, King County.

The Class 3A teams kicked off on Feb. 5–6 and the 4A 1A/2A teams followed on Feb. 7–8. Each team that qualified had their bowlers compete in six games and 14 baker games. A baker game is when each bowler on a team takes turns and bowls two frames until they complete the game. Bowlers who went as individuals did not compete in the baker games.

4A state

Since Bellingham’s bowling team has all three high schools (Bellingham, Squalicum and Sehome) combined, they competed in the largest classification.

Marsh, a Squalicum High student, finished second place out of 114 bowlers with 1,209 pins in six games. She was 23 pins behind winner Jayden Thayer of Bonney Lake. Bellingham’s Cassandra Berwick finished 48th with 922.
